Sheridan's Electrical Techniques certificate program is designed to help you compete for employment as an electrician apprentice. Working both in the classroom and in the shop, you'll get practical, hands-on experience in electrical fundamentals. In just eight months you can master the basic skills you need to become an electrical apprentice. It's the first step toward a career as a professional tradesperson - and there's no better place to start than Sheridan.
To prepare for an electrical apprenticeship, you'll gain instruction in:
- Electricity 1 & 2
- Electrical construction skills trade practice
- Safety practices
- Commercial and residential building prints and schematic diagrams
- Mathematical fundamentals and trade calculations for the electrical industry
- Application of the Canadian Electrical Code
These skills go well beyond the minimum requirements to begin an electrician apprenticeship. You'll enter the work force as a confident, capable electrician apprentice with a solid foundation to build on.
After earning your Electrical Techniques certificate, you can continue your education in related Electromechanical Technician and Technology programs at Sheridan. Advanced standing will be granted for equivalent courses.
Electrical Techniques program courses are held at the Skills Training Centre in Oakville, Ontario.
