Picket Line Guidelines – Sheridan Community

Overview

In the event of a strike, individuals should expect delays when entering Sheridan campuses, as striking employees will be picketing at campus entrances. It is important that drivers approach the picket line in a respectful and safe manner. Pedestrians may also be approached by picketers. Pedestrians should interact with picketers in a safe, non-confrontational manner.

What can I expect from a picket line?

• Vehicles can expect traffic delays. Proceed slowly and only if it is safe to do so.
• Avoid using left hand turns to enter campus. Drivers who attempt a left-hand turn into campus may face undue delays or be trapped in the intersection.
• If you wish, you may roll down your window, as picketers will approach your vehicle to provide a hand out and briefly explain their views.
• Pedestrians entering campus may also be approached by picketers to engage in conversation.
• Picketers will not delay vehicles or pedestrians exiting campus.
