Ademidun Abimbola is a dedicated and passionate Child and Youth Care student at Sheridan College, currently in her third year. With a background in Pure Chemistry (BSc), she brought a unique perspective to the program when she joined as an international student in Fall 2022. Ademidun enthusiastically volunteered at program events and soon became a peer mentor in Winter 2023. In this role, she collaborated with fellow mentors to organize engaging activities for Sheridan students and welcomed new students from diverse backgrounds at the New Student Orientations. She excelled as a peer mentor for four consecutive semesters and represented African students to welcome delegates from South Africa’s Central University of Technology at the Trafalgar campus.
Her commitment to student representation led to her election as a member of the Sheridan Student Union Board of Directors. In this role, she connected with students one-on-one to understand their needs and concerns, advocating for them at board meetings. She was on the hiring committee for the Sheridan Student Union president in Winter 2024. Her dedication to student representation culminated in her election as a student member of the Sheridan College Board of Governors in 2024. She is driven by a passion to serve and represent her fellow students, embracing the values of empathy, resilience, and advocacy. Beyond Sheridan, Ademidun volunteers as an executive on the committee for parents of black students at her daughter’s school.
