Since 2008, Wayland has been teaching college students in courses on business law, taxation, finance and accounting.  He practiced law for over 15 years both as in-house tax counsel at CIBC and as external counsel at major law firms including Fraser & Beatty (now known as Dentons).  Wayland was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to Canada when he was three years old.  He grew up in Ottawa and attended McGill University where he received a Bachelor of Commerce in finance and marketing.  Wayland graduated from law school at Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the bar in Ontario in 1992.  In 2010, Wayland completed a Masters of Law degree in international business law at the University of London.
