Off the Beaten Track
Born and raised in Ancaster, Ontario, I've known since I was young that I wanted to become an interior designer. I asked my dad to rearrange my bedroom furniture when I was too small to move it myself.
Now living in Central Texas, I’m a busy designer and self-taught artist with a diploma in interior design from Sheridan College.
Sheridan was a natural choice for me. I knew the hands-on nature of the interior design program would set me up well to start working in the industry.
Since graduating I've relocated several times for my husband's academic career and have lived in Toronto, Minnesota and Los Angeles. Travel has definitely been an asset as a designer and I'm grateful for the flexibility I have in being self-employed. Although I’m now based in Texas, I offer virtual design services throughout Canada and the U.S.
My skills have been showcased as a freelance designer for Betsy Burnham of Burnham Design; project manager and designer at Studio La Beauté; showroom manager at Reid & Lyons Decorative Trimmings; professional organizer at Positive Place Design, and as a junior designer at Kimberley Seldon Design Group.
I’ve created blog and video content for major home retailers, and my work has been featured in Lamps Plus, 55 Downing Street and Style at Home magazine.
And on top of all this art and design, I’m a professional organizer whose clients include the Royal Bank of Canada and Toronto’s CHFI FM 98.1 radio.
My faith is central to what I do and how I do it. In fact, I toured the U.S., Canada and Taiwan for a year as a vocalist with a music ministry. You can check out my work here: www.lesleymyrick.com
