Graduates of Sheridan’s Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) — Supply Chain Management degree program will now be a step closer to earning Canada’s principal and most sought-after designation for supply chain professionals.

Pilon School of Business has partnered with Supply Chain Canada to provide graduates of Sheridan’s Supply Chain degree with advanced standing towards the Supply Chain Management Professional™ (SCMP™) Designation, a credential that can increase their employability, earning power and advancement opportunities.

“We are thrilled to enter into this partnership with Supply Chain Canada,” says Keith Barnwell, Associate Dean of Pilon School of Business. “Worldwide supply chains have been substantially disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and there’s no better time for our graduates to align with an organization whose guiding principle revolves around advocacy towards reliable and predictable supply chains in order to maintain Canadian competitiveness.”

Sheridan’s BBA — Supply Chain Management degree teaches skills necessary to ensure effective flow and production of goods and services to customers, including oversight and coordination of material purchase, production, product storage and delivery. The first two years of the program share common curriculum with Sheridan’s other BBA degree specializations — Accounting, Finance, Human Resources and Marketing — in order to provide a strong foundation of general business knowledge, and students also gain industry experience through a mandatory work term and optional co-op program.

Supply Chain Canada is the voice of Canada’s supply chain, representing and serving more than 7,500 professionals across the country as well as the wider supply chain community. Its SCMP™ Designation program includes eight modules on strategic supply chain management knowledge, six interactive workshops on high-level business skills, evaluation, a leadership residency, a final examination, and monitoring of learning outcomes. According to the 2021 Canadian Supply Chain Salary Report, those who had their SCMP™ Designation earned 22% more than those who did not have any certifications.

“Through this agreement with Supply Chain Canada, graduates of Sheridan’s Honours Bachelor of Business Administration program can take the next step towards their SCMP™ Designation and open more doors as they move closer to their career goals,” says Pat Campbell, Vice President, Strategic Initiatives, Supply Chain Canada. “Manufacturing and distribution-based industries are obviously built on Supply Chain. Any company in any industry is reliant on Supply Chain for its success. The need to introduce more people to Supply Chain – like those graduating from Sheridan - will shape the future of our communities and Canada’s economy.”
