Ten skilled trades students receive Canada’s largest skilled trade scholarship
Ten Sheridan students have been named as the 2024-25 recipients of the prestigious Schulich Builders Scholarships. The recipients came from a pool of 350,000 potential candidates across Canada. More than 1,000 students were nominated, with 120 receiving this celebrated award across 12 colleges in Ontario.
The gift marks the second year for the Schulich Builders program. Last year Sheridan was honoured to be among the first cohort of colleges to receive a gift from the Schulich Foundation as part of the program.
“We are so grateful to the Schulich Foundation for their incredible support. These students inspire others in our Magna School of Skilled Trades with their commitment to their studies and community,” says Dr. Elizabeth Fabbroni, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology at Sheridan. “Having access to this significant funding is life-changing for these students. Scholarships encourage future students to pursue rewarding, and essential, careers in the skilled trades.”
“We are proud to promote the skilled trades and support students pursuing this rewarding career path,” says Judy Schulich, Director, The Schulich Foundation. “Canadians rely on the trades to build and maintain infrastructure critical for prosperous communities. Our challenge today is not having enough of these talented people to meet the demand.”
Thanks to Schulich’s ongoing support, Sheridan can once again provide 10 scholarships: five $20,000 scholarships for students in a one-year certificate program, and five $40,000 scholarships for those pursuing a two-year diploma program.
