Sheridan to celebrate more than 4,000 graduates at fall convocation

Sheridan will proudly celebrate more than 4,000 graduates in the fields of business, the arts, community studies, applied health, the humanities, and science and technology during six fall convocation ceremonies this week at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ont., growing Sheridan’s alumni community to over 220,000 strong. 

Sheridan’s 64th convocation takes place on Tuesday, October 8 and Wednesday, October 9, recognizing graduates from Continuing and Professional Studies (CAPS), the Faculty of Animation, Arts & Design (FAAD), the Faculty of Applied Health and Community Studies (FAHCS), the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology (FAST), the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHASS), the Pilon School of Business (PSB), and Sheridan at CCTT. 

“Convocation is the culmination of our learners’ journeys at Sheridan, and a celebration of their unlocked potential,” said Dr. Janet Morrison, Sheridan President and Vice Chancellor. “It’s an incredibly special time for our graduates, their families, professors and everyone who has supported them along the way. Convocation gives us the opportunity to honour and recognize their achievements and resilience as they cross the stage and enter the next phase of their personal and professional lives.” 

Highlights of the ceremonies will include musical performances by 2023 Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre program graduate Annika Tupper; a reading by Poet Laureate Daniela Dampare (Bachelor of Creative Writing & Publishing ‘24); and a keynote address by President and Vice Chancellor Dr. Janet Morrison. Six valedictorians will deliver their speeches during the Convocation ceremonies. Each ceremony will be livestreamed.  

Indigenous graduands will be presented with a hand beaded thunderbird pin and a sweetgrass braid on behalf of Sheridan’s Office of Indigenous Engagement and Education. 

“Postsecondary education transforms people, families and communities,” said Dr. Morrison. “We take great pride in celebrating Sheridan’s newest alumni as they begin the next chapter of their lives. I know that they will bring new ideas and fresh perspectives to every challenge they encounter and be a catalyst for real change.”
