Whether you are considering Sheridan or returning for another semester, finding a place to live is an important step for many students. At Off-Campus Housing, we support students with information, resources and guidance so they have the tools needed to find a suitable place to live close to campus. Where to look for off-campus student housing
Sheridan has three partnerships to provide students with safe and affordable off-campus housing options.
Places4Students (P4S)
Places4Students (P4S) is a listing website specifically designed for students looking for off-campus-housing. It offers a variety of housing types, with clear filters to help your search. Additionally, P4S also provides customer service and support with the understanding of students’ needs.

Canada Homestay Network
A homestay is a living arrangement where international students stay with a local family. It provides a supportive and immersive experience that helps students adapt to a new country/city.
When you choose a homestay with Canada Homestay Network, you become a valued member of both your host family and the community.
- Hosts are carefully screened and trained in health and safety. They are committed to including you in conversations, sharing meals and participating in excursions.
- As an international student, you'll be deeply immersed in Canadian culture.
- You'll have ample opportunities to practice your English in a supportive environment.
SpacesShared
SpacesShared is a user-friendly, online home-sharing platform that connects students seeking safe, affordable accommodation with older adults who have extra space in their homes.
- Hosts may offer a Helper’s Discount for students interested in helping around the house in exchange for a discount in rent.
- Thorough background checks are conducted on both hosts and students before they move in together.

Sparrow
Sparrow is a home sharing platform that offers pre-verified housing options, designed to make the housing search process easier, safer, and more enjoyable.
- Hosts are vetted and comply with local by‑law standards, and renters are covered with insurance that offers liability coverage, ensuring peace of mind.

Registered dwellings
Many students live in a second-unit dwellings due to their affordability, but it’s important to ensure they are legal before you move in. A second-unit dwelling (often a basement apartment) is a self-contained unit with cooking, sleeping, and bathroom facilities located within a townhouse, semi-detached, or detached home.
Depending on where you live, a second-unit dwelling may be required to be registered with your city by your landlord. Brampton and Mississauga require second unit dwellings to be registered. A registered second unit ensures your place is safe, legal, and livable. It must comply with the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, and Zoning By-Law.
