Michael Cloutier is an accomplished business leader and consultant with over 40 years of experience in the life sciences sector.

In recent years, Michael has had a hand in multiple aspects of the pharmaceutical, biotech and health sciences industries. He is the Founding Partner of Accelera Canada, a Senior Consultant for Santen Inc., a Partner with Mirador Global Inc., and is a Chair of the Board of Directors for Arylide Life Sciences.

Previous to that, he held the role of VP, General Manager at PTC Therapeutics, was President and General Manager of InterMune Canada, and was the President and CEO of the Canada Diabetes Association.

Earlier, Michael served as the CEO of four organizations dedicated to the development of products vital to enabling people to live longer and healthier lives, including Critical Outcome Technologies Inc., an early-stage biotechnology company based in London, Ont.

From 2003 to 2007, Michael led AstraZeneca Canada, the second-largest pharmaceutical company in Canada with revenues in excess of $1 billion, and over 1,500 employees.

A member of the Canadian Healthcare Marketing Hall of Fame, Michael has also held the positions of President and CEO of Pharmacia Canada and President of Searle Canada.

Michael has served in leadership capacities on numerous boards over the past 15 years. He previously sat as a Chair of Sheridan's Board of Governors, and is the past Fundraising Chair of the Hazel McCallion Academic Learning Centre at the University of Toronto Mississauga.

He has also held leadership roles with the Canadian Stroke Network, the Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation, the Canadian Obesity Network, the Canadian Arthritis Network and the Cameron Institute; and has held board positions in life sciences organizations including national centres of excellence, hospitals and community nursing associations.
