Governing the Next Generation
Michael Cloutier is a dedicated philanthropist and currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for Sheridan. He is also Chair of the Board of the Canadian Stroke Network and Vice-Chair of the Board of the Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation.
He is an accomplished business leader and consultant with more than 27 years in the Life Sciences sector. Over the past 10 years, he was President and CEO of three major pharmaceutical firms and is known as a powerful leader among the healthcare community; federal, provincial and municipal political circles throughout Canada; and in the non-profit sector. His most recent role as CEO was leading AstraZeneca Canada, the second-largest pharmaceutical company in Canada with revenues in excess of $1 billion and over 1500 employees.
Michael is currently the CEO of Critical Outcome Technologies Inc. (COTI) in London, Ontario. COTI is a biotech company focusing on pre-clinical product discovery, primarily in the areas of multiple sclerosis, oncology and HIV/AIDS.
His accomplishments also include induction into Sheridan’s School of Business Hall of Fame and the Canadian Pharmaceutical Marketing Hall of Fame.
Among the activities Michael enjoyed most during his years at Sheridan, outside of his academic studies, were hosting a radio show and playing intramural hockey. Business Professor and intramural hockey coach, Dave Tinker (now retired), was a particularly strong influence on Michael, demonstrating the value of a fully rounded educational experience, a lesson which has stayed with him to this day.
Michael advises students to enjoy their time here by becoming involved in as many activities as possible, both academically and socially. He believes that students will draw on all their Sheridan experience for many years to come.
