Peter is a professor at Sheridan College in the Child & Youth Care program within the Faculty of Applied Health and Community Studies. He holds a BSW from Carleton University and graduated with his Masters of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Windsor. Peter has been teaching within FAHCS since 2014 and joined the CYC program in 2015. He has over 15 years of experience volunteering and working in the Child and Youth service sector working frontline, management and governance roles. From November 2008 to September 2011 Peter was involved with the Ontario Youth Matters campaign as one of its co-chairs; this campaign looked to lobby the Provincial Government to create an outcomes based youth policy framework. The campaigns influence can be found throughout the current MCYS Stepping Up Framework and documents. Prior to teaching at Sheridan College, Peter worked as a Community Engagement Worker with Peel Children’s Aid Society and supported the work of the Anti-Oppression & Diversity department. While working for Peel CAS, Peter co-chaired the FACES of Peel Collaboration and supported this network of organizations in carrying out research and releasing ‘Fighting an Uphill Battle,’ a report on consultations regarding the well-being of Black youth in Peel Region. In his spare time, Peter studies, performs and facilitates African drumming workshops to various youth groups across the GTA.
