Better Jobs Ontario Application Process for Full-time and Micro-credential Programs

Your Employment Consultant can help you determine which Sheridan program will best match your career interests and goals, keeping in mind the following:

• Program duration. The program you select must be one year or less in order to qualify for Better Jobs Ontario funding. Sheridan’s full-time Certificate and Ontario College Graduate Certificate programs fall within this maximum length.
• National Occupation Classification (NOC) codes. Funded training under the Better Jobs Ontario initiative focuses on education that leads to careers in occupations that are classified under the National Occupation Classification (NOC) codes of B or C and under some circumstances A. Your Employment Consultant will guide you in choosing an appropriate program that falls under either of these NOC codes. • Admission requirements. You must meet the admission requirements for your program of choice in order to receive an offer of admission. If you don’t meet the admission requirements: If you require academic upgrading in order to meet a program's admission requirements, you may be eligible for Better Jobs Ontario funding for one year of Sheridan’s Academic Upgrading program as part of your training. Speak to your Employment Consultant about Better Jobs Ontario funding for academic upgrading.

Research the program you and your Employment Consultant agree upon. Your Employment Consultant will discuss the research requirements with you.

To support you in this process, Sheridan has prepared Program Profiles that answer the research questions. The programs listed fall within the allowable duration for Better Jobs Ontario funding.

Apply to your program of choice through ontariocolleges.ca. You’ll be required to pay an application processing fee.

When applying, make sure you indicate that you are seeking Better Jobs Ontario funding: On the Financial Support page, under the question Do you have or are you in the process of getting sponsorship? select the Agency Sponsored Better Jobs Ontario option from the drop-down menu. This information is MANDATORY in order to receive a “Confirmation of Acceptance” letter.

You must provide proof to Sheridan via ontariocolleges.ca that you meet Sheridan's program admission requirements by:

A) Providing transcripts or an evaluation of international education.

• Domestic transcripts must be sent from the issuing institution to Ontario Colleges who will then forward them to Sheridan at your request.
• International transcripts must be evaluated by WES or ICAS. Request to have WES or ICAS send your evaluation to Ontario Colleges who will then forward them to Sheridan.

OR

B) Requesting mature student testing.

You can apply as a mature student through ontariocolleges.ca if you:

• are 19 years of age or older AND
• never graduated from high school in Canada or any other country at any time.

1. If you meet the admission requirements and there's still room in the program, you'll be extended an offer of admission to the program. Please accept your offer through ontariocolleges.ca.
2. Sheridan will prepare your “Confirmation of Acceptance” letter and send you a copy by email.
3. You must provide a copy of your “Confirmation of Acceptance” letter to your Employment Consultant. The Employment Consultant will forward it to the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development who will decide if you are approved for funding. Please allow at least 3 weeks for the Ministry to review your funding application once received.
4. If you're approved for funding you'll be asked to sign a contract and submit a copy of your contract to Sheridan.
5. If you're not approved for funding you may still choose to attend your program using OSAP or other means of funding.

Your Employment Consultant will guide you in choosing an appropriate program that falls under either of these NOC codes. • Other CAPS programs may be considered on a case-by-case basis, to be discussed with your Employment Consultant.

Once you and your Employment Consultant have agreed on a Sheridan program, email betterjobsontario@sheridancollege.ca to request a Sheridan Better Jobs Ontario letter of intent for micro-credentials.
