Eligibility to live in Sheridan Residence
You must be a full-time student at Sheridan College to be eligible to live in residence during the academic year. However, students are encouraged to apply to live in residence once applications open, regardless of their acceptance status with Sheridan College. Students who are accepted to residence but have not been accepted to Sheridan College, or those who choose to live off campus, have until June 15 to cancel their application and receive a full refund (see the student residence agreement for details regarding the cancellation policy).
The process for obtaining a Student Visa is challenging, and this year more than ever, new international students are facing hurdles with obtaining post-secondary education in Canada. We do not encourage holding a space open while waiting for approval to come to Canada.
International students who do not have their study permit by August 1 are encouraged to cancel their residence application by this date. Holding a space beyond August 1 while not eligible to arrive to Canada and attend classes, will subject you to full cancellation penalties.
Terms and conditions of the first-year student priority acceptance
All first-year students who complete their Sheridan Residence application for the Academic Year term before March 31 will be prioritized for a spot in residence based on the following set of conditions:
- The student has paid their $100 non-refundable application fee and completed all required application details on or before March 31.
- The student has made their residence fee payment by the fee payment deadline(s); only Payment Option 1, Option 2 or Option 3 will allow students to qualify for a spot in residence.
- The student has completed all online Residence Portal information (before and after residence fee payment) by the specified deadlines, which will be provided through the online acceptance process.
- The student must be enrolled and accepted into a full-time program at Sheridan College, with any required study permits, by August 1.
- Returning residents do not qualify for first-year priority.
- Acceptance is subject to availability, as the number of qualifying first-year applications received by March 31 may exceed the number of spaces available in residence. Acceptance is not guaranteed.
Your residence application or acceptance may be subject to termination if any of the previously stated conditions are not met. Upon cancellation of an application or acceptance, monies paid will be refunded as per the cancellation policy found in Section 8 of the Student Residence Agreement (SRA).
First year priority acceptance does not apply for Winter and Summer terms, which are accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
