About Theatre Sheridan

For more than 50 years, Theatre Sheridan has played a pivotal role in shaping the careers of some of Canada’s most talented performers and theatre technicians.

Students in Sheridan’s Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance and Technical Production for the Performing Arts Industry programs collaborate and put their skillsets to work under the expert guidance of industry professionals who teach acting, singing, dancing, choreography, lighting, set design and more.

Over the past five decades, Theatre Sheridan has earned a reputation for excellence in nurturing and showcasing the talents of aspiring theatre artists. It rose to global fame with its launch of the Canadian Music Theatre Project (CMTP) in 2011. CMTP was an internationally renowned incubator — and Canada’s first — dedicated to the development of new works of musical theatre. More than 28 projects were incubated through CMTP at Sheridan, including the run-away Broadway hit Come From Away.

While CMTP was retired in its original format in 2021, its activities and impact live on through initiatives such as First Drafts, in which Sheridan’s Faculty of Animation, Arts and Design (FAAD) continues to collaborate with writers to reimagine, reshape and reanimate the art form, deliberately making space for stories that speak to current issues and add shape to a more diverse canon of musical theatre works.

Theatre Sheridan presents six musicals each year at Sheridan’s Trafalgar Road Campus in Oakville.
